COVID-19 is stretching the local economy like never before. Independent, Newcastle-based businesses and traders need your help to get through these next few months of quarantine.
Buying a voucher to redeem once this is all over can help support them. Here are some local businesses you can support by buying vouchers right now:
- The Free Trade Inn – You can ‘prepay’ for future meals from some of their most regular traders using this crowdfunder page.
- Pink Lane Coffee – Gift cards of various values are for sale via their website. You can also donate via kofi.
- Shoe Tree Cafe – Various vouchers for future delicious food, and the option to donate to their efforts helping the community weather COVID-19 are available here.
- Catalinas – *Pivot, not voucher. Newcastle’s own Romanian Streetfood vendor is delivering sausages and takeaway meals. You can express interest here.
- Cafebar One – *Voucher system coming soon, check their facebook page for updates. They already offer takeaway, the info for which is also on that page.
- The Butterfly Cabinet – Vouchers are available in person, no online link available yet.
- Cookhouse – Gift vouchers + 50% off once redeemed. Info here.
- Tyneside Cinema – Are asking customers to buy gift cards for future events, or to make a donation directly. Info here.
- Scorpio Shoes – Vouchers are available online via their website. Also available in person, but please favour self-isolation.
- Wilsons Bead Boutique – Vouchers available remotely by contacting them directly. Also available in person, but please favour self-isolation.
- The Yesterday Society – Posting stock for purchase via twitter.
- Newcastle Cat and Dog Shelter – Urgently need donations to cover extra running costs during COVID-19.
- Alphabetti Theatre – Taking donations to help with COVID-19 disruption at their ticketignite page.
- Grainger Market – £10 boxes of fresh fruit, veg, bread, meat or cheese, delivered to your door. Request via facebook or twitter, online transaction.
- Fat Hippo Fleet – Prepay for a future meal here.
- The Pottery Experience – Vouchers available via their website for pottery experiences, valid for 12 months after normal life resumes. If you’re bored at home, they’re also offering home painting packs!
- The Cluny – Vouchers of various values available from their website, valid for a year after date of purchase.
- Journey – Vouchers available via their website, or alternatively, you can donate to them directly through crowdfunder. T-shirts available!
- Meeple Perk – Donations via kofi. Donate at least £3 and gain access to their new discord server, where games will be run while we wait this out!
- J G Windows Music – Vouchers from £10 and up available on their website.
- Magic Hat Cafe – These guys redistribute food that would otherwise go to waste, and are in need of donations via their GoFundMe page.
